I WOULD NOT RETURN DO NOT BOOK. Hotel in the middle of nowhere. On arrival the entrance was tatty, the road covered in leaf mulch and mud plus we had to avoid potholes. Only 3 parking spaces outside the front door otherwise parking on dirty, muddy ground. Check in pleasant enough, had to pay upfront rather than on checkout. The bedroom was however very small and desperately in need of a major refurb, the door had a lot of movement and was not a fire door, patched up paintwork, only 1 bed side lamp and archaic furniture. No hangers in the wardrobe. Extension leads all over and oil filled radiators in rooms rather than central heating. The bed although small was comfortable, pillows very thin. The shower head leaked and dripped continually, running down the shower enclosure and leaking onto the bathroom floor, resolved by taking shower head off the attachment and putting on the floor of the shower. The blind cord was missing and the blind was rolled up and tucked on the top of the sash window. Hotel was full on our first of a 2 night stay as a 40th birthday party was taking place so couldnt be moved. Very noisy at some unearthly hour on the first night as they retired to bed. The bar and dining area was well decorated with open fires, although the fire had not been re laid from the previous night and the ash was still in the grate, it was eventually relit whilst we were sat around it. Lovely and reasonably priced 3 course meal but expensive mediocre red wine on the first night and the breakfasts were good although the full menu not available. Much to our surprise and anger when we went to book for the second evening meal we were told the chef had walked out and we would have to find an alternative. It turned out this was a lie as the real reason was that they wanted to prepare for a very busy Mothering Sunday the following day, dining furniture being moved around all evening. No help was offered to find an alternative, the nearest pub that they recommended was closed for the weekend due to a wedding, all the pubs we called within a few miles were already fully booked, all that was available was a Toby carvery some miles away, not the style of food we had planned. It appeared that residents were now an inconvenience to the staff. On our final morning at breakfast tables for 2 only were laid which didnt take into consideration we were a party of 4, we had to move our table nearer so we could have a conversation and turn it so we werent sitting with our backs to our friends. We will move definitely not return.
