I have just completed a RYA Level 1 course, that lasted for two full days. The course was led by the Senior instructor Paul and Alfie. Both are knowledgeable; delivery of the theory and practice was excellent; they use a wide range of teaching methods and techniques, as there is SO much to remember. I have learnt a lot about wind, sails, and boat maneuvering, and how to capsize and recover a sailing boat! A lot of practice was done on the simulation boat, every movement was explained and thoroughly perfected. Both Paul and Alfie are reassuring and inspiring, with a good sense of what new 'cadets' might face during the sailing time. Both demonstrated Angelic Patience and the uplifting mitigation of my mistakes, huge appreciation for this. The facilities of the club are very good and clean. Every person on the site is welcoming and supportive. Equipment, buoyancy aid, boats are of very high standards. The group on the course was excellent too. Thank you everyone for your camaraderie and support, for banter and helping hand, for laughter and sharing your experience here and now so everyone could learn from mistakes and enjoy what it takes to achieve RYA Sailing level 1!
