Wow! What a gem. My wife found this on the Internet as we needed a couple of days away. It is an absolutely top notch lodge. It sleeps 4 easily with plenty of space. There are plenty of pictures online which are brilliant but it's so much better than a picture, you have to be there to appreciate the tranquility and the pure Devon countryside. The owner Ann, is a really very nice lady who couldn't do enough for us. Very welcoming indeed, we had a bottle of wine, some cake, semi skimmed milk, 6 of their very free range eggs and tea and coffee. The lodge is brand new this year, I think. It's so modern, clean lines and perfect for us. 2 bedrooms, 1 with ensuite and a family bathroom. Kitchen diner and living space all in one that really works. You need to be there to appreciate the quality of it. It's on a real working farm, they have cattle and sheep. We were there in the middle of April so we had, right outside the French doors, ewes with beautiful lambs, What a time waster they are! The views outside the back were real Devon. Rolling hills and farm land, with a stream thrown in for good measure. Sorry but we loved it! We will be going again. We loved the fact the phone signal wasn't good but the WiFi was OK but Woodpecker lodge, Pound Farm is a place where you can get off this planet without being completely out of touch. It's worth booking directly with Ann on their website. This might sound like I'm being paid but please believe me, I'm not. They've got it right.

We were very disappointed with our experience, and as Superhosts on Airbnb we do know how to plan and book a trip including reading the information beforehand. Was supposed to be non/smoking but unfortunately the whole place absolutely stank of smoke and it really ruined our stay, and the owners seem to be saying they cant control previous guests behaviour, but if you allow guests to smoke on the small veranda of a wooden building its a situation waiting to happen. Would have liked to have known this ahead of time to make alternative plans, and Anne was lovely and helpful in person so I was surprised not to have been told. There were some lovely touches such as cake, flowers and wine and we enjoyed those, and the rural location is beautiful. They are building other lodges very close to this one though. The Wi-Fi is also very patchy which was not given in the description ahead of time - they mention light use but it just didnt work at all (and with no phone reception, which was mentioned) which meant we found it hard to make tweaks to plans for our trip, which is needed with small children
