Youth With A Mission Holmsted Manor

This place is a is a cult! I did some of a DTS here in 2007 before being sent packing. It's just 3 months of extreme fundamentalist indoctrination and emotional abuse. I still have regular nightmares about this horrible place and I feel so angry. After returning home I felt completely emotional drained and physically exhausted ( like a fish out of water). I spent 6 months in a psychiatric hospital and spent years in therapy trying to undo my trauma from religion. I'm now happy to say I'm an atheist living free and fine!

I don't normally post reviews, but after a month of praying over it I feel I must say something about this place. It saddens me that I need to warn people not to go here. There's serious issues here, and I haven't seen evidence of anything dramatically changing to fix the issues. It's a beautiful location with some nice people, so it's a nice place to visit. But living here is not so great. Each week I was hopeful that it'd get better, but it only got worse. Please never do a DTS or BCC here. YWAM schools are typically very well run and are excellent quality and value, but sadly this isn't true about the schools here. Especially the BCC. And I heard even worse things about the DTS.

Having visited Holmsted for 4 times over 5 years, I feel like having gathered quite some data for writing a review. However, note that this is my perspective as a guest only. I felt very welcomed, and always looked forward to the flair of the Manor, the people, and the overall vibe. Obviously, the house has quite some history which transfers to not everything being like a top-notch hotel (which it is also not saying to be), however, I personally really enjoyed all my stays very much! Also, the Manor is close to Brighton, which makes awesome day trips! High recommendation as guest.
