My son started with F.S.K at age 11 and achieved his black belt at 16. He represented them at U.K. nationals twice and was without doubt the making of him for confidence and self discipline, and has made him the grounded young man he is today. Sensai Paul, is an excellent instructor and I would 100% recommend F.S.K to both children and adults.

Exercise is really good... for other people. That has been my theory for as long as I can remember. I was too old, too fat, and too busy to exercise. And of course, that mindset becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Then, on the day that my three kids became black belts, my husband announced that he is going to start karate. Well, no one loves a challenge more than me, and I didnt want to be left behind. So, figuring that this was just another fad (like jogging, which lasted for about a week after my husband had bought all the necessary gear), I said I would go as well. Four years later, Im still here, and a brown belt. I know, I sometimes have difficulty believing it myself. But its all true, and its down to Sensei Paul, who combines strict discipline with the patience of a saint (or someone on medication [just kidding]). I was initially really nervous, because no one likes to think theyll be laughed at and Im not deluded enough to think I have any sort of natural ability. But Paul is incredibly encouraging, and fosters a sense of camaraderie in the class. The students range in age from teen to, ahem, the more mature", and I have never felt uncomfortable or embarrassed (except for the time I fell over a bench backwards, but thats a story for another time). He really is a great teacher and I cant recommend FSK and Sensei Paul strongly enough.
