Its a lovely walk that really does stretch on for miles. Its surrounded by woodland on either side with views to the surrounding peaks. At some points on the canal path there are informative boards of the corresponding history and wildlife in the area, which are always very interesting. There is an abundance of different trees, flora and fauna as well as a delightful selection of different water birds. Im not sure if the canal is a working one, but this doesnt take from the experience. I walked all the way from Cromford to the neighbouring village of Whatstandwell and enjoyed the beautiful scenery every step of the way.
