On the positive side the location is great and it has an olde worlde charm with crooked corridors and superficially good looking rooms. Unfortunately the stay was spoiled by disorganised check in ( apparently there should have been a message about self check in) the room facilities were lacking (no bin, wardrobe doors don't shut properly, coathook fell off.) The absolute worst thing was fully discovered the following morning. We had noticed a few bugs the night before but thought nothing much about it. They were tiny. On waking , almost every surface was literally teeming. I tracked them to the window where there seemed to be an entire community living. My drink had swimmers in it and they seemed very attracted to my phone! There was only a mobile number for emergencies out of hours, and it seemed a little late for that. I tried to inform the staff but despite hearing someone in the kitchen, nobody would answer my call. I gave up and we left. It should also be said that out of ours entry is via a narrow, rickety spiral staircase/ fire escape and across a flat roof. Not suitable for all. It is a shame as the building is full of character and had a lovely looking bar/tapas place below.

I gave the hotel a call on Friday evening (17th) asking if they had a room that was dog friendly for the same evening as my wife and i were going to attend dogfest at Cirencester park the next day, i was not holding out much hope as this was extremely short notice. However i spoke to the owner (Nigel) who was super helpful and said he could indeed have a room ready for us. I paid for the room and we set off from Wells to Cirencester. On arrival we were greeted by Nigel who showed us straight to our superb loft room which was immaculate. We decided to go down to the bar to have a couple of drinks but the food was smelling and looking so good that we stayed and had some delicious Tapas. Next morning we had a full english breakfast that was cooked to perfection. All i can say is a great big thank you to Nigel and ALL his staff who bent over backwards to make our stay outstanding. Do not hesitate to stay at here, you will not be disappointed. Thank you once again Dennis, Debs, Berkeley.
