North Street Post Office

The recent closure of the next nearest post office (Hungerford Rd P.O.) makes this site busy. The nearest parking is next door but on pay meters (min 1 for 1hr) and access in/out of the car park is awkward. Staff in the P.O. are good, but the store layout is cluttered. Those with mobility issues may struggle. Allow additional time for access and for your transaction.

Tried my best to avoid this post office due to past experiences when it was on Hungerford road, hasnt changed! They are still abrupt, unfriendly and always try to get you to buy extra things. You cant go in for just a stamp, without being asked if you want life insurance, lottery, cash out etc..or try to charge you for the most expensive postage service possible when you ask for 1st class..

Went in here today to drop a parcel and also get a small amount of euros. I was the only one in at the time. Shortly followed by an amazon driver to drop and pick up parcels. The service to me was stalled and i was left waiting. I was then asked if i wanted a currency card as opposed to cash. Having used them before and not being a fan i said i was only requiring a small amount of cash and that i use my monzo card when travelling to europe. Manager asks what about the fees - there are no usage fees with monzo Then asks me whats the currency rate when using my monzo . Actually its at 1.119 higher than the 1.08 st the post office. I didnt hang around to answer his question. I didnt go in to be bonbarded with questions or sold a product i clearly didnt want let alone be rudely spoken to. Upon leaving the manager says shut the door behind you. I go with the other review and avoid in future .

I visited the post office yesterday I required help to return 6 items back to Amazon I'd never returned any items before I was given 100% assistance from the post master even though he was very busy he was very helpful and made the task easy I'd certainly go to that post office again. Very very pushy in trying to upsell more expensive services. I've used this post office twice - the first time they charged me for recorded delivery even though I asked for standard, and yesterday I had to fight pretty hard just to buy a first class stamp for a large letter, and even then they refused to give me proof of postage. I'd advise going elsewhere.
