Courtyard Cafe - Alder Carr Farm

A really delicious vegan meal. Super brilliant and excellent service and high quality food using great local produce. Highly recommended! The caf sites within Alder Carr Farm, which has great parking and also is within easy reach of Needham Market, and a lovely walk along the river path from the car park at Needham Lake will get you to the Courtyard Caf.

Delicious Sunday lunch. Our party had the Alder farm burger, which featured a good portion of beef and delicious cheese. Another favourite was the creamed mushrooms on sourdough, which had a very generous portion of mushrooms and was cooked perfectly. All around, everyone was very happy with their meal and would definitely return or recommend to a friend.

Visited today as a table of four for lunch at 1.30. Once drinks had been served and main order taken in good time, it all went downhill. Service of main was very slow. Clearing away and offering of dessert menu was even slower. At this point I would have left, but our friends did want desserts. After taking our orders, the waiter came back three times to confirm the cream or ice cream part of the order, and to check one of the desserts even though had noted everything down on a mobile device. Service of the desserts was glacial in its provision even though all that had to be done was to plate up four slices of pre cut cake. Nobody came to ask if we wanted final tea or coffees or to ask if we wanted the bill, by which time it was nearly four pm. As a summary, this is not the first time that we have had bad service here and we will not bother them again in the future.

We booked a Valentine's Lunch as we'd always enjoyed delicious food, excellent service and competitive prices for many years. Sadly, this is not the place it used to be. There were no 'specials' available and the menu was very uninspiring and I ended up having a salad [9.00] which I could have had at home! The fries [3.00] were tasty though and my partner enjoyed his pigeon breast [13.50] but there were no accompanying vegetables with it. I Had a double G & T [6.95] and my partner two glasses of Sauv Blanc [10.50]. 2 scoops of ice cream [4.00 each] and the total bill was [50.95]. Service was extremely slow, although we finally managed to wave over a very nice young man who was very helpful and polite. Sadly, probably the most disappointing Valentine's lunch we've ever had.
