So glad to have found this wonderful rescue service as no-one else was interested in caring for a wood pigeon with a poorly wing.

Today I found a young bird in an East Grinstead car park with its leg entwined in some unknown material, unable to fly and looking pretty distressed. The British Wild Life Centre referred me to John at Swan & Friends Bird Rescue in Crawley, who promptly came out to help the young bird, which turned out to be a crow. He said the bird had man-made nesting material entwined around and in its leg, which he removed, and he gave the bird painkiller and antibiotic injections and took it away to a rescue centre to recuperate and heal. I was so grateful for his quick response in helping the bird, which was very distressed, as was I when I saw the trouble it was in. Thanks very much John, you're a star!

I can't say enough about them, John had a busy day ahead of him but still managed to get to four elms pond and rescue a trapped Moorhen chick from fishing line just before it got dark. What a star
