We got married in May at Nettlestead Place. Wedding breakfast was absolutely great. Very hot and food well presented and lots of it. Everyone commented on how lovely it all was. Everything was perfect. Cant fault the wedding breakfast. On a more sour note we had opted for the evening buffet, which came out at 8pm. Our evening guests started arriving around 7.30pm. As we was welcoming our guests we hadn't noticed that the food had been taken away, no more than an hour of being put out. One of my family members had asked a member of Anise Catering, why it was being taken away. And she replied with "we have been told to take it away as they were going home". This was not the only member of staff that was asked to leave it, but took it anyway. Seeing we had only finished our wedding breakfast around 6 ish people wasn't hungry at 8pm but was at 10pm. To cut to a long story short we paid over 2000 for a buffet that got thrown in the bins, what a waste of money and food. Why wasn't we given the option of keeping the food out or take it with us, seeing we had paid for it. When contacting Liz through Sharon she basically said that this hadn't happened like this and that if we had told her on the night, that people wanted food, she would of bought it back out. Even though several members of Anise were told, We was told we should of found her. But she was no where to be seen. We felt the buffet let Anise Catering down, but couldn't do much about the situation the next day. Don't like to leave negative reviews, but don't want it happening to other couples on there special day.

Fantastic staff, food and service. We went for a tasting session with Liz (event manager) and Neall (chef) and were served absolutely delicious, beautifully presented food. Liz was so helpful and professional and we felt completely confident in her hands. Our wedding day catered for 95 guests and Anise catering and their staff covered everything. We didn't have to worry about a thing on our special day. We are so pleased we used Anise and would most definitely recommend them to others. Thanks again Liz (and your team). Sam and Jen

If it was possible to leave a minus star review then I would. Thankfully we didn't actually have to use Anise Catering. However, I wish to warn others of the incredibly wrongful business practices we experienced. It was just plain distressing. From the second we left the taster session and handed over a 1,200 deposit they were a NIGHTMARE. Despite promising that they were happy and able to fit comfortably within our wedding budget, they absolutely refused to co-operate with us and in my opinion acted operated at a borderline-criminal level of indecency towards us. The quote was nearly 8,000 (more than double our stated budget) for a standard three course meal. We made it clear that this was unacceptable given what we had discussed. It was from this point onward that they became extremely difficult to deal with. Phone calls and emails were never returned, we were laughed at on the phone (genuinely) by someone giving us the news that our deposit (taken and kept illegally, as far we know) would not be returned. They refused to supply us with canapes as we weren't spending enough, and tried to slap on extra fees that were never discussed. The owner, Mark, himself was non-existent until we threatened legal action. Even then though, argumentative and rude, disgusting 'customer service' from all staff. This took 5 months and caused upset and tears leading up to the big day. Then all of a sudden, after some firm phone calls from us and another important party; our money was returned in full. I would personally advise avoiding this firm altogether, but if you do decide to hand over any cash then good luck! There was no remorse or apologies from any staff members even though they were very aware of the pain and financial worry they caused us. I cannot stress just how real and worrying this actually was: to have a company pretty much say "Well, you've paid us a deposit therefore that means you have to use us. If you go elsewhere then we keep your deposit anyway, it's your problem if you're not happy." We were made aware of two other couples who had a very similar experience to us with Anise during our wedding planning journey, who also had to go down the same road and source a new caterer after fighting for their money back. Awful and appalling from start to finish. I do not understand how they are still trading.
