This place has a lot of potential. It is set deep in beautiful countryside, miles from civilization. There is a farm shop on site selling a variety of products. Just a stones throw away, there is an excellent pub, despite having unusually early closing times. Back to the site, we were blessed with traditional camping weather, heavy rain. This didn't bother us as we are both hardened campers. We had booked the wood field but due to the rain it was too waterlogged. Personally, I feel that this should have either have been communicated to us at point of purchase or clearly stated on the website. Anyway, we chose to pitch on a flatter and dryer part of the lesser waterlogged field, equidistant from the parking area and compost toilet. Unfortunately, the compost toilet was closed due to decomposition but the toilets weren't that much further. Though the thought of traipsing that extra bit further in the middle of the night, in the rain was not appealing. There is a dishwashing area where you can prepare vegetables, store freezer blocks and wash up. Unfortunately the water was turned off due to a leak so we ended up using a kettle to get hot water. The toilet block was comfortable and clean. One of the showers was out of order but they too were clean. Overall, I felt the site was average. It's selling point is the remoteness of the site. In my opinion there are several things that looked unfinished and untidy or out of order. It is clear that welcoming campers to their farm is hobby income, rather than an income source they value.
