Ive been meaning to write a review for so long of how much we loved it here although worried I might be ruining a secret for all the regulars that come year after year! I spent hours researching dog friendly camping all over the UK with nearby dog friendly beaches and its surprisingly difficult as most places dont allow dogs on the beach over the summer but luckily I finally stumbled across Treago farm! So much to write about but firstly, like others have mentioned, the owner is great, very friendly and helpful but not obtrusive, just always around if you need something or a nice chat. Secondly the facilities! The showers and toilets are always clean, there are water points dotted all over for camping, there are also brand new outdoor showers and waste area all done very beautifully. We didnt use the kitchen (as our van has one) but it looked clean from what I saw and there is also clothes washing facilities you can use too. We treated ourselves each morning at the farm shop to delicious coffee and breakfast, my favourite being the avocado on toast for me and scones with clotted cream & jam for my husband (its a holiday ). They have lots of free treats and water for your dog or you can spoil them and buy some doggy ice cream. Also a great selection of food items eg bread, milk, sausages, eggs, bacon, condiments etc in case you need anything. From what I remember there is a food van each evening that comes to site (there is a sign that tells you whats on that night). Not like a dodgy fast food van but actually really nice wedding standard food vans! We treated ourselves one night to thin wood fired pizza and grilled garlicky prawns! There is also a beautifully decorated rustic bar open in the evenings (dog friendly) with pool table and music (not too loud, think Rolling Stones genre) and a further games room near the entrance with another pool table / darts board that all the kids seemed to hang out in! People on the site are very friendly and respectful so there is no loud music after 10/11 pm as there are mainly families here. However if you were a louder group of friends you could just hang out in the bar as this is far enough away from the campsite. Lastly the location, right in between two brilliant beaches - Crantock bay & the Polly joke. Crantock is probably a shorter walk and the more touristy spot but is a huge sandy beach with lifeguards. Then the Polly joke which is a beautiful walk to get to and because its not that easy for people to reach much less touristy. As we dont mind a bit of a walk (~3 miles one way) we also spent a couple of afternoons / evenings walking over to Newquay harbour for dinner and drinks (would recommend the Boathouse - get there early as its walkins only) and Fistral beach for lunch (Seaspray or Rick Stein - book in advance for this as we couldnt get a table here). Its also worth mentioning that you cant walk across Crantock beach at high tide but there is a small boat shuttle (part of the Fern pit cafe at the top of the steps - great coffee & ice cream) that runs until 6 pm that you can hop on for 1.40 per adult) otherwise you can grab a taxi which all were happy to allow dogs (we let them know in advance). The whole experience was magical, from the friendly families on the site, to watching the sunset with a beer from the hills over the Polly joke. One of our favourite holidays and everywhere so welcoming of dogs - cant wait to do it again!
