Unprofessional. I went all the way to Somerset to meet in person, meeting went great and we agreed on a plan, only to hear after that none of it is how they want to proceed. They shared how to go about creating prototype, and the "in-house designer" pay rate, a few weeks later all of a sudden he was not able to help in this way, and was supposed to send me a quote of his "designer" work but never did. Also found out the company is in liquidation, no wonder why.

After two years of searching for a British company to sample and manufacture my leather bag design, I finally found Materia who not only created the sample I had envisaged but added so much more to it. I have been working with them on my bags for some years now and their care, craftsmanship and commitment to my product is unmatchable. I wouldn't make my bags anywhere else.

I've been working with Materia for a while now - and couldn't be happier! My orders arrive on time and are great quality. Materia have been really flexible with me and my business requirements. Development side of the factory has been excellent also!

This is a lovely little business but sadly they need to go about hiring people properly.I had a job interview on the 25th of Nov last year 2021 and I was shown around the place and shown what the job involved and as embossing is a specialised job I dont think anyone can just do this job it will come with time and practice however I had a phone call telling me they wanted to offer me the job but needed to show me something else and could I go in for a trial and so I went in to do my trial and although it was not great again this comes with time learning the job and the job advert did state training would be given so I feel let down by them. I understand leather is dear and can not be wasted but my trial was cut short and I was given a excuse and money and was told I would be phoned the next day which they never did and I felt they could not get rid of me quick enough. I feel very let down by this company why offer me the job before a trial I kept asking how they thought I done but I would rather be told the truth on the day instead of being left in limbo waiting for a call . I would love to get back into hand work again and treating people this way while looking for work is very stressful and upsetting after you think you have the job .I worked at a company for 19yrs before it closed so its there loss .Please get your hiring right and contact people when you say you will.

Materia Products should be avoided at all costs if you are looking for a professional and well organised business to competently produce your design. They caused myself and my business a huge and unnecessary amount of stress in the sampling and production of my bag. Samples came back incorrect to the detailed designs I provided. We had numerous face to face meetings yet simple and fundamental deign decisions where wrongly manufactured. Samples were sent to me that would literally fall apart in my hands. Communication amongst other things is their worst ability, I had to continually chase them everyday on matters for which I'd either get lied to about or simply not responded to. From the start I told them my deadline and my expectations for which they said would be met. However they underdelivered on every level and even threatened not to provide me with anything to show for my deadline. 6 days before an exhibition I was showing my product at, I got sent a sample that was poorly made, incorrect to the design and the buckles fell off with the slightest tug and they expected me to sign it off for production. Instead I had to travel for 5 hours to get to their doorstep for an emergency meeting first thing Monday morning and they had the cheek to tell me it wasn't ideal to turn up unannounced. 2 days before their deadline they called to say they were ready to send the bags, they threatened not send me anything until I paid. I had no choice but to part with over 1000, for a product I by now had zero faith would actually be made correctly and to an acceptable standard. I tried my best to approach the design process as openly as possible with them, yet It is of my opinion this was abused and taken advantage of in regards to costs, timings, and a very poor level of due diligence to my project. I don't usually write bad reviews as I believe there are usually reasons for people to receive the services they are unhappy with through unexpected circumstances. However, Materia Products have offered no apology or reasoning for my experience with them.
