Walkability: In the town centre, parking is adequate and there are plenty of walks to embark upon from the George Hotel Noteworthy details: On a restricted parking road. Has adequate parking available though through the back. The town is picturesque with many walks to do and a windmill to visit.

We adored our stay at the George. Vicky, the manager, is absolutely fantastic. The restaurant food is fabulous better than any of the fancy restaurants we went to in London earlier this week. We loved it! Food & drinks: Excellent

We absolutely enjoyed our stay here over the last several days. The historic room that we were in, the Crimson, had been used by Queen Victoria. It had an amazing four poster bed with a wood canopy. The room was very large and the bathroom matched it even having a roll top clawfoot tub. In an ancient building, like this, things like wonky floors are all part of the charm, so that didnt bother us at all. Our bed was super comfortable, and the bedding was nice and plush. The breakfasts were good, not amazing, but miles above what you would get a similar hotel with breakfast included in the United States. The room was very clean, and properly made each day. They provided bottled water, both still and sparkling, Nespresso, coffee maker, with a choice of pods, teabags, and all of the fixings. There was also a hairdryer, wardrobe for hanging your clothes, and a good size chest of drawers. This is one of those times where I really really really wish Google reviews would allow you to break down things and make a conglomerate score. I say this, because Sally, who checked us in, and seemed to be doing just about everything Was five stars plus! What held us off from giving a full five stars were the small things. Yes, we do realize it is a very old building, but we had some issues with water pressure and, Wi-Fi. There is street noise, but in a building of this age, we expected that. Fortunately, the town is small, and the traffic dies down about 10 PM. Unfortunately, the assistant manager, who has an apartment on the top floor, also has a new dog. It escaped his kennel in the middle of the night a couple of times and it sounded like someone was wrestling on the floor above. It only happened one night, but it is worth mentioning. That said, Im sure they will get it straightened out and it shouldnt keep you from booking at this one-of-a-kind, beautiful place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
