After having a total knee replacement (tkr) I was given a physio person at hospital to help me get back on my feet. I know that most people in the medical world always say that movement is key to getting better and back to "normal". This is why I couldn't understand why my physio had basically put me on bedrest for 4 weeks only being allowed to get up and go to the toilet or to get a drink. The rest of the time was to either do the one of the 4 basic exercises I was given or to stay in bed. The exercises were very basic (which I understand for the first 1 maybe 2 weeks) and didn't seem to do much to help. I was feeling very anxious and panicky as I knew how important the first few weeks are at keeping the build up of scar tissue minimal or not getting full use of your leg back. I wanted my life back and was getting seriously depressed and worried. I joined lots of support groups on FB which have been a godsend for support. I also happen to connect with a gentleman called Neil Sleeman. I didn't know at the time, but his vast amount of knowledge came from the fact he is a physio with his own business. He introduced me to how he would approach a person like me with a more robust plan to get a patient moving again. He kindly gave me some exercises to begin with and spent time on the phone talking to me and offering sympathy and help - which I so needed. He gave me such a positive outlook on things and brought me back to life. It's not just the physical rehab that I needed but also mentally. Within a week the improvement I saw was amazing. I looked at his website and credentials and he certainly had done amazing things for other people. He has a number of online classes that people can join all over the world, targeting various issues and having them tailored to suit your own problem. He never asked for anything in return, he was just a kind and genuine person in a profession that is able to help people. As a lot of classes for rehabilitation are held online, it doesn't matter where in the world you are based, you can still benefit from the wonderful work Neil and his team do. With the exercises being emailed to you, the online classes and having someone to talk to about everything is something you can't put a price on. 6 weeks on now from my tkr, I am squatting, doing knee lifts and lunges, walking, swimming and even started kneeling and riding my stationary bike this week and most importantly, back in my own bed , as before I couldn't even lift my leg high enough to get into bed. All this in just 2 weeks and I'm only 6 weeks after surgery. Don't get me wrong it's still uncomfortable and sore, but I finally feel I have my life slowly coming back to me, still a long way to go and to keep at it. For any type of rehabilitation that you think you may need please give Neil and his team a chance to help. You really won't be disappointed. You will be even better that what you were before.

I started the Swiss Ball class to build up my core strength after 6 months of chronic pain and sciatica caused by herniated discs. Really impressed by the whole set up. Neils video on Sciatica is the most informative video I have seen, and I have watched a lot of them! He is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. My own physio had said she could do no more and I might have to live with my residual pain, I felt so flat. But Neil was so positive and gave me hope and the confidence to do exercises I never thought I would be able to do. After being in such pain and bedbound unable to walk it takes a lot of confidence in someone to trust them without physically meeting them. I was nervous that these exercises would trigger my back. But Neil looked at my MRI and gave me the clearest explanation as to what was going on and what prognosis I could expect to have. It is all super efficient with automated emails and homework between classes. The physios who lead the classes are all very responsive to questions and they keep a close eye on everyone throughout the class. I am not a very physically fit person, Im usually intimidated by exercises classes but I have always felt very comfortable in these. They push me but not at a pace I cannot cope with. Each exercise is explained with different levels depending on what you are capable of. When I have had questions Neil has been in touch right away. It is an excellent set up. Highly recommend to anyone looking to recover from back issues.
