7 months down the line I dont remember most of it, due to the course not being very hands on, it was just the teachers reading from PowerPoints, and most of us just sat their getting caught yawning, too much information being crammed in at ones while sat their by a table and desk. I wish it was more hands on and more specific to yachts because I know I would have learnt a lot more, I dont really feel like i came out knowing an awful lot. And I know that a lot of people on my course thought the same.
I also thought we would get a bit more guidance for landing your first job and a warning that it can take months to get a job onboard. Like I said 7 months since I did my course, trying so hard everyday and not really hearing much. Lastly I find it very difficult to get in touch with them for guidance, as when I email the career advisors most of the time I dont get a reply. Even though they did say before we left that they would always be there for us to help!
Unfortunately I would not recommend doing this course at the Uksa, but I would recommend going just for your STCW, and doing further training else where.
