Had a great week with Hugo at Salty Sailing doing my day skippers course. Even with rough and windy conditions Hugo helped us learn and refine skills to safely and confidently skipper a sailing yacht. Hugos style was brilliant for us to learn, he was relaxed and was incredibly informative in a manner that allowed practical application of the theory. Im really looking forward to going back to Salty Sailing to do me Power Boat Level 2 and hopefully my Yacht Master in the future. Thanks again for a great week.

The taster day was amazing! Me and my partner wanted to give it a try and see how we feel about sailing before committing further. Salty sailing were great. We were well looked after onboard, Hugo and Cherie taught us the basics and were great company. Couldnt have asked for more, highly recommend!

I have already sailed twice with Salty Sailing - once for my day skipper practical course and now for a weekender refresher cruise, and honestly recommend them as a great company to sail with. The boat is in great condition: clean, modern, well equipped. I honesty cant remember ever chartering a boat that was so well maintained and a pleasure to sleep on. All other equipment is new, clean and well kept as well. Hugo is a fabulous teacher and I really gained a lot of confidence during the course. Hes patinent, friendly, helpful and really helped us improve our skills. Hes got a vast knowledge and sailing experience and I really appreciated learning the practical skills form him as we practiced manoeuvres or planned our passage. As a regular to IOW Im pleased to see an independent business grow and do so well. Id recommend Salty Sailing to anyone who wants to gain sailing qualifications, improve their skills or get into sailing in a friendly and relaxed environment. I will be booking another passage or cruise with them in the coming months.

Highly recommended. Had a great weekend on the Solent with Hugo doing Skills and Drills training. The weather was challenging and Hugo tailored the two days well to our skill level. The training boat is very well maintained. Absolute pleasure to sail with will be returning to Salty Sailing.

I Signed on with Salty Sailing to do my Day skipper practical course in November this year. I had done all my shorebased work some years previously and was a little concerned about having to start all over again so gave Hugo a call to discuss my position. He could not have been more helpful we talked through my experience and he completely put my mind at rest. I signed up straight away. I had a fantastic time on the course, for sure there there is a serious syllabus to be achieved but Hugo and the Salty team are excellent at keeping it enjoyable and not overbearing at all. There was plenty of opportunity to practice areas of particular concern or interest as Hugo tailors the course to the various needs of the candidates. There was an individual mid week feed back session with Hugo which I found excellent as by then he was aware of my capabilities and any weakness which he could work on. There were 4 candidates on the course from various backgrounds and locations so there were plenty of stories for the pub and on the serious side which gave plenty of individual practice with drills. The Bavaria 38 is roomy and very comfortable for the 5 day stay (and yes it has heating) breakfast and a really good lunch are provided and a couple of dinners on board all though we tended to hit one of the local pubs on our overnight stays (Yarmouth and Hamble). Hugo even successfully cooked a pizza in the boats oven at one point. All in all a course which totally suited my needs, achieved the syllabus without being overly formal and was thoroughly enjoyable. I learnt loads and had a great time. I will definitely be back in the future Dont hesitate if in doubt give Hugo a ring for a chat. Oh yes and I passed!
