I wish to post a warning to anybody considering using this company.
I jointly instructed Mr Alfred Pare of Prime Accountants to provide an expert forensic accountant report on the value of a company shareholding as part of divorce proceedings. I paid getting on for 4,000 for this report, inclusive of VAT, which represented my half of the cost of the report.
In my opinion, it was clear that, when I received the report, it contained a number of careless mistakes. For example, Mr Pare got the name of a main company director wrong not once, not twice, not three times.....but four times!
However, this was not half of it. A mathematical error in the report meant that the valuation of the shareholding, the main reason for requesting the report, was incorrect. If I had not discovered this error myself, I would have lost out by many tens of thousands of pounds. I discovered the mistake months after I received the report, having read it numerous times, leading me to the conclusion that many people might not have discovered it. Indeed, it was not spotted by either my solicitor or my barrister. It was only discovered a few days before my divorce trial and cost me an increase in legal fees, as I needed to meet with my barrister and solicitor, as well as loss of income, as I work for myself.
I paid for this report up front and asked a number of questions about it, based on my lack of confidence in it generally. This company has not only refused to agree to a refund for my half of the cost of the report, which, as far as I am concerned, was not fit for purpose (I did not receive what I paid for - an accurate valuation of a company shareholding), but it is also having the nerve to chase me for an approx 1,500 bill for answering the supplementary questions that I asked!
They are currently threatening me with court action if I continue to refuse to pay them any more money, as well as adding interest on to the bill whilst we are in dispute.
Does this sound like good customer service to you?
If it doesn't, steer well clear!
