Our worst building experience. Jewel Group Ltd and their project manager, Nigel, undertook building works on the lower floors of our home. For the first time in over 30 years of building projects, we had a very bad experience. We felt harassed by them for the months they spent in our house, on and off, in 2021 and 2022. One day we received the following request from Jewel by email via the contract administrator (CA), we politely request that the client vacate for 4 weeks, as agreed on site by the client, as soon as this evening. Please note that there will be no electrics or plumbing from tomorrow morning. This had not been agreed on or off site and we certainly would have expected at least a weeks notice if asked to leave our home and find alternative accommodation. On another occasion Jewel emailed that they would return some rubbish which was cleared accidentally not belonging to us . Jewel presented us with a Final Account which included tens of thousands of pounds of unjustified claims for payments outside the contracted work. Needless to say, we would not employ them again.

Jewel made a number of suggestions as to how my apartment could be reconfigured to make it more suitable; including converting the kitchen and lounge to open plan and refitting a new kitchen and flooring throughout. The result was excellent! Also, the unusable garden was transformed into an "oasis" with paved and lawned areas almost doubling its size, and attractive running water features and lighting. The work was set out in detailed quotes and these were not exceeded. The work was carried out tidily and in a timely way. Jewel was subsequently awarded additional work in the apartment block by the managing agent. Service: Refurbishment
