Westhope Green Burial

A very peaceful and beautiful place. My sister is laid to rest there and it is the most lovely place to visit amidst beautiful rolling countryside

I conducted a funeral at Westhope and held the service in the private chapel a few yards from the graveside. Although there was sadness, it was a truly wonderful experience for the whole family - a really natural setting and a most beautiful environment to say goodbye to a loved one. So peaceful and a blessing to know that your loved one is at rest with nature.

After visiting two other local green burial sites and feeling rather dejected we decided to visit West hope on our way back. I am so glad we did. It took my breath away when I imagined how happy my mum would be here. She wanted to be somewhere pretty and here is so much more than that. It is a calm and beautiful burial ground. All the trees were abundant with apples and shone like gems on the trees. We arranged to meet Andy Bruce at West Hope and chose the perfect spot for Mum. He was so approachable and warm as was his daughter. He showed us inside the chapel and it was just perfect. We decided to use it for the service with a Humanist celebrant Jill Barcroft. Andy light the candles in the chapel for us on the day. I have to say the service was just as I had hoped but in every way was enhanced by the surroundings.
