I have regularly been purchasing from this charity shop for the last 4 months. I normally have a positive experience but I am absolutely appalled by the way I was treated today. After working in a carehome throughout the whole of 2020 and wearing a mask for 12 hours a day, I was left with long term side effects including excruciating head aches when wearing face masks. That said, I still try to wear face masks when shopping so to make others feel safe, but when I feel a headache coming on I do take it off my nose so I can breathe better (not that this requires an explanation). Today whilst shopping I was wearing a face mask over my mouth, and had my nose free. A customer strode in and attempted to publicly humiliate and shame me in front everyone in the shop, apologing to the staff on my behalf for my lack of care. she went on to say (or SHOUT) how it leaves customers like her feeling unsafe to be in the shop (yet safe enough to come within 2 metres of me to yell at me?) and then strode out. The ironic thing being that she was spraying her germs everywhere by the amount she was shouting this over-rehursed speach. The staff offered no support, they even aggreed with her and the way she was speaking to me. I highly suggest you treat your customers with a lot more respect and courtesy, and acknowledge that people have their medical reasons for mask wearing compliance. Please also be aware that lockdown has had detrimental effects on people's mental healths - and speaking to people in this way can be far more dangerous that the effects of the virus. Incredibly unprofessional and disgustingly rude. If I go in again, I wont be wearing a mask at all.
