Poached

The seats were covered in crumbs which I wiped off myself. I ordered the sausage, waffle, egg thing expecting a delicious treat from the description. Unfortunately, the meal arrived and looked like it had been thought of, executed, and presented by a 12 year old. The waffles were limp and cooked from the freezer bag... the sausage 'meat' with a square of melted cheese on top looked like tarted up roadkill - tasted bland. Bacon was undercooked so you could see the white fat glisten - the meat low quality. The coffee was good and the staff kindly refunded my meal (which I only sampled ) so I very much appreciated this. Will not be coming back, alas. I've never experienced such a disconnect between the online reviews and the reality as I did with this experience/meal. Also, they poach their eggs in advance in case that affects anyone's decision to come here.

First time visit, very intimate, awesome food, great value for money. Highly recommended if you are in Beckenham or travelling through. 5

Im such a big fan of Poached! Their coffee is delicious, theyre really friendly and everything Ive ever eaten here had been delicious. Special shout-out to the almond croissants they sell and today I tried a pretzel bun - they have meaty, veggie and vegan options to choose from - which was just perfect. A cosy, small coffee shop with about 4 tables to sit-in, a loo or very conveniently located for the train station. A Beckenham gem!
