Our baby by c-section was born at Kingston in March 2023 and we found all of the services in the Maternity ward to be outstanding, no wonder the hospital is rated as so as we found all the staff very caring, friendly and helpful. Special praise to the diabetic, labour and post natal teams. This is by far the best hospital we have been and delivered at (the first time at UCL)

Had my Son by c section 3 years ago at Kingston. The initial treatment by the Midwives and general staff was fine, they were all lovely and friendly. After c section myself, baby and husband had to wait over 6 hours to be placed in a room which wasn't ideal but we were looked after whilst waiting so we were all fine! I found the younger Midwives to be very friendly, comforting and helpful but some of the older Midwives were very rude and dismissive. Our second night there I was trying to breastfeed and as a first time mum, it was clearly tricky so I asked for some tips from an older midwife, she didn't answer my call for help and just huffed loudly, stormed over to me and squeezed my breast and said, there! Rolled her eyes and stormed out. It was the strangest experience and honestly, someone with that attitude shouldn't be working in this kind of field. Besides the few unpleasant staff members, overall the treatment was fine and our surgeon (Carl Chow) was fantastic!

I had my baby there 2 years ago, the pre natal care were fine. Labour team were great, but after a complicated birth we were kept in for another 7 days making it 10 days total. The after care is worse than I could've imagined. The midwives have absolutely no care or passion for the job. They are rude and unhelpful, don't answer your buzzer, don't communicate with you. Birth is a very vulnerable time for a woman and the way they treat you at Kingston dramatically impacted my post natal mental health. The ward midwives had missed doses of my sons antibiotics as no one noticed the cannula had been knocked out. They weren't apologetic and tried to laugh it off !!! Hours after my traumatic birth I rang my buzzer for help with feeding. Firstly they didn't answer my buzzer (because of covid you weren't allowed to walk around) my husband managed to get someone after being told she was busy, then we found her sat around at her desk. She squeezed my nipple and said no milk, express or formula then left ... with no help or resources to feed my baby. Who the next day ended up in NNU due to his inability to feed. I want to add the NNU staff were incredible. However, I would never ever go to Kingston maternity again.
