22/4 Congleton Town v Longridge Town Tier 9 North West Counties Premier Division 7 entry Played 4-2-3-1 1st half. The first attack of the game comes from Congleton Town, with a ball fizzed dangerously across goal. CTFC has the better of the ball only for Longridge Town to take the lead against the run of play after a midfield runner beats the Bears keeper to a 50/50 ball. CTFC, with an in-swinging corner, bounces back off the ball, Congleton follow it up with an effort on goal, the fans celebrate, the balls cleared, the ref says no goal. The Bears equalise after a long throw-in from the left flicked on at the near post headed in by CTFC no7. The domance of Congleton pays off after a break down the left and a tidy finish to beat the keeper at the near post. Ht 2-1 Away assistant manager sent off for arguing with ref at half time 2nd half. The home team make 3 changes on 55 minutes and Longridge strike soon after to make it 2-2. CTFC new rightback gets to the by line and gets a cross in for Towns no7 to hit on the volley past the keeper 3-2. Longridge with either a well worked or lucky free kick score from the edge of the area. The Bears make another substitution along with a change shape to try and chase the game only for Longridge to make it 3-4 from a throw-in that was never really challenged. A long searching ball played forward from the left finds The Bears no17, who loops his header back across goal and over the keeper. Ft 4-4 Home support Good turn out, but vocally none existent till a goal went in Football Both teams like to play the ball about and then go direct looking for an opening. The Bears seemed to struggle to adapt and settle after each substitution. Ground 4 Small stands covered with the main stand an all seater. Pitch was pretty good, slightly sandy in places. Couldn't make out much of what was coming across the PA system. Grub Average Grub and a pricey pint Total 10/20

A disappointing evening out from a football point of view, but despite loosing 2-0 I enjoyed the visit to a good standard football club. The refreshments were very good and reasonably priced. The ground was tidy and well maintained. The only very disappointing thing was the stupid and positively violent comments that were directed at us as we left the ground. I didnt react or get involved with the person responsible but the incident has definitely put me off a return visit.

This is a good club. Luckily Congleton is a small town so wherever you park is walking distance from the club as there's no parking provision at the club itself. On our visit - Newport Pagnell v Congleton - the home team were a little naughty but the local constabulary were to hand and I'm guessing they were a tad disgruntled by losing at home to us. Until the next time.....
