The Main House

Have stayed here at least once every year since 2012 and cannot recommend highly enough. Well appointed, comfortable, and clean rooms. A true home away from home with everything one could ask for and nothing one does not need. Short walk to fabulous shops, cafes, and restaurants. Excellent public transport links with buses and rental bikes just around the corner. Short and pleasant walks to two Underground stops. Access to the Central line at Notting Hill Gate, the best way to get across London. Lovely neighborhood, safe, residential, and convenient. Two of Londons best Royal Parks within 12 minute walk. Wonderful food for picnics at Ottolenghi (again, just around the corner). Famous Portobello Market within sight, but still far enough away for peace and tranquility.

I've had the pleasure of staying at The Main House several times over the past few years, most recently in April 2019. It's my favorite place to stay in London--ideally located near Portobello Market, a short walk to the Tube stop, and in a very quiet neighborhood. Both rooms I've had have been very comfortable, spacious, and private. The decorating of the old house is simple, elegant and lovely. The owner was very helpful when I had questions about dining, directions, and things to do. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Just spent 8 nights in Carolines perfect place. The rooms are beautifully decorated and everything maximizes the travelers comfort. Caroline and staff are welcoming and delightful; it felt like you were staying at a good friends home. Caroline is also a wealth of information for local places to go/see and how to get there. I highly recommend The Main House!!!

I've just returned from my third stay in three years at The Main House and that alone says what a special.place it is. Many people have talked about the lovely big rooms and the convenient location, and they are right. The Main House is those things. What is harder to describe is the way that it feels like you are visiting friends when you are staying there. How Caroline spends time discovering what her guests are interested in and making suggestions of places to go and things to see that are not the usual tourist sites. Those are things that you won't get in a hotel or Airbnb and they are invaluable. I can't recommended The Main House highly enough.
