Visited here on Easter Monday 23. I turned up an hour earlier than book with the other half and our 3 grown up kids, we were greeted with a warm welcome, in a splendid looking bar with a fire burning at one end, an array of tables made there way down the other side. The chef seated us and took us through the menu, while our drinks arrived. The cider and the real ale was spot on! 1st course, scallops cooked perfectly, as was the squid. 2nd, lamb shanks that fell off the bone in a red wine gravey full of flavour and yet not overpowering, The salmon cooked to that point of flaking but still moist , 3rd. Well what can I say? The best creme brulie i have ever eaten!! Too late to cut a long story short, If you want to spoil someone with outstanding food and drink in a lovely setting This is the place for you

We spent 2 days at The Shears Inn this week, the food and menu is fabulous, service excellent and excellent choice of beers & wines. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, decorated to a high standard, bed great, en-suite perfect with a shower that actually has pressure, unusual in the UK! We will definitely be staying there again soon, there are plenty of places to visit, we went to Marlborough this time but will take a look at Hungerford next time, Thruxton is just up the road too!

I have been visiting The Shears for 35 years and with all due respect to previous owners I have to say that it is best under Nigel and Beckys current ownership. I havent had a bad meal there since they took over. The food on the main menu is tasty and well presented as are the specials of which there are always several. The welcome is always very friendly. I happily recommend. PS I have visited several times since this review and reiterate wholeheartedly what I said. I visited with family on Easter Sunday 23 and had a magnificent chicken roast lunch. The place was justifiably packed.
