Surrey Downs Counselling

It has been 3 years since i knew Turiya. My life wont be the same without him. now I see him as a parent, provide me love and care. with his encouragement and guidance, I like a reborn child, enjoy the moments of growing up. back to 2014 I started counselling with Turiya. I thought I had a successful life and everything was perfect but I cry with no reasons. I remember i was surprised that i already gained so much from my first session. He provided a lot understanding and made me feel comfortable. Part of my problem of commitment, i found very difficult to do regular sessions however Turiya gave me space and time, and let me know i could quit the counselling anytime. Then time flies I had regular sessions over a year. I trust him and cant think a second person i could be so open to talk my thoughts and feelings. He is experienced and can spot my problems very quick. He is generous to give his insights. After a year I was general fine so I thought to stop but didnt feel confident yet. He told me I could email him or go back to him if I need. During the next two years, he is as he promised, always be there for me whenever i need him. i am really touched. now, i quit all glamour things in my life (not in once but a little by a little). i used to think i need those to feel good of myself but actually the more i give up the more i feel confident. when i think back, i lived in someone elses life and now I am on my own life journey. life still has up and down. when its an up, id always like to share with Turiya. when its a down id need a bit of his support (either through email or see him for a couple of sessions). i am so glad i met him!

I have been working with Martyn for nearly 5 years. What began as part of my training requirements, this has become a trusted and meaningful relationship that has enabled me to work more confidently and with more clarity about how and when I bring myself into or stay out of my own client work. He has helped me resolve ongoing personal dilemmas linked to historic patterns of relating to others and myself. I continue to work with Martyn because I recognise the personal work necessary to be the best therapist I can be for my clients.

Turiya has given me a much better understanding of myself, which has led me to face up to and change the behaviours that were detrimental to my life. Over time this has given me purpose and a new focus. Turiya is a really laid back guy with a wicked sense of humour and a unique perspective on life. He can broaden your mind and give you a tremendous sense of well being. Its a great investment in yourself.

Having experienced two previous counsellors: one some 35 years ago - very good; and one more recently - didn't work for me, I found Martin helpful, not afraid to make an input, and very wise.

I first visited Turiya a few years ago, as I was experiencing PTSD from a road traffic accident and found every car journey to be triggering and cause extreme anxiety. During my first session he took me through the rewind technique to help me through my trauma. I was completely stunned to find that the next time I got in a car after that session my anxiety had completely gone and has not returned since. It had been something that had haunted me for years and so I am very grateful to have been recommended Turiya in the first place. Since then, Turiya has helped me through many therapy sessions for various different things and has generally helped me to become a more authentic and confident version of myself. I will always recommend Turiya's sessions to anyone who needs to work through any type of trauma or is simply in need of some help and someone to talk to.
