I thought my review warranted something a bit longer as it's been close to a 2 year journey. Let me start of by saying that trust is a big game in the construction industry, especially when it involves demolishing all of the supporting walls in your home and holding up the weight with steels. It could go one or two ways: the house falling down or the house holding up. From the moment Amrit made his first site visit, I immediately warmed to him as he came across as someone who knew what he was talking about, tried his best to make my vision a reality and stayed available until the structural works were completed. I had a total of 9 steel beams that were installed, including a jumbo 950kg RSJ spanning 8 metres which took the weight of the rear elevation. There was also a fair bit of underpinning around the property, difficult foundations to put in, complex drainage work and a range of chimney breast removals that we needed to deal with simply because of the location I lived in. His structural calculations and drawings for everything was spot on, and my house is still standing! I was nervous throughout this ordeal and at times even questioned what I had signed myself up for but his efforts, flexibility and patience in helping me progress the build was much appreciated. It was a complicated double story side extension and a single story rear extension with lots of hidden surprises along the way but the work was completed safely in the end (and in line with my vision!). Amrit wasn't the cheapest but I guess if you're about to spend tens of thousands on a building project, trying to save a few hundred quid on the engineer wouldn't had made any sense especially if something structurally were to go wrong and the cost of correcting it was enormous. On that basis, he definitely earned his money! I have started recommending him to lots of people. P.S. My Building Control Inspector said Amrit's drawings were the best he had seen in 20 years - and I have to say, I agree! It's all laid out nicely with enough information. Thanks for everything Amrit!

Amrit came round for a site visit, he never provided us with any calculations and stopped responding to emails and phone calls. A couple days later he had put on his out of office. We were in the middle of a service and he knew how urgently we needed things finalised. I believe it may have been because we removed something from our initial plans, which he said would take 200 off the bill, when he offered to add it elsewhere to keep the quote the same (to provide calculations for footings sufficient for an additional storey if required in the future) which we declined, I think he lost appetite for doing the job. Our project was delayed and we ended up going with someone else in the end.
