Kintsu

It's hard to overhype Kintsu. It is far and away the best restaurant in Colchester - nothing else compares. We went for our wedding anniversary (we wanted to push the boat out and blow the budget) and once again, Kintsu exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail, the delicate and unusual flavours and the top quality wine selections all combine to make a unique dining experience. This was my third time dining at Kintsu and I am already looking forward to my next dinner there!

We are so lucky to have this on our doorstep in Colchester. Weve been coming to Kintsu since its beginnings as Grain and I can hand on heart say it just keeps getting better. If these guys dont get a Michelin star soon, I would be shocked. Ate the tasting menu at Friday lunchtime just gone and we were blown away by every course. If you love great food you can not go wrong in your choice to dine here. Kintsu - you deserve every success!

The best food I've ever tasted! Booked online for our 13th anniversary, the wine I requested was on the table ready as well as a personalised message from the team on our special day. We had the taster menu and every dish was so unique we were blown away. Service was impeccable, beautiful setting and will definitely book again.

Yes, a great restaurant with the best food in Colchester (by far) but please don't spoil it by taking a booking reservation with Amex and then refuse to take this card when the customer pays the bill. On my last visit, this caused great embarrassment. This attitude, and the poor response by the staff has made me reconsider going there again. Simple solution - accept American Express cards like virtually all other restaurants. It's a shame that Paul has made a slur about my behaviour at Kintsu. The problem was entirely the making of the restaurant. I left the restaurant area to express my concerns to the management and was met with unhelpful responses. I wish the restaurant well but would have expected the staff not to accept the Amex card when making a booking reservation and to make it clear at that time that you did not accept Amex cards for payment. What you did is not the way to conduct business.
