After phoning with a housing problem, I was told that there was an advocacy service for this. I applied for this..only to be given an excuse that 'funding didn't cover' my area or age group. Don't be called Autism Anglia if you don't help the whole area equally!

I phoned up about housing support a few years ago, and was interrogated by a woman on the other end who questioned why I wasn't able to work full-time when I was "clearly quite high-functioning and able". Bear in mind this was after I'd informed her of my chronic physical ill health, too. Clearly, it is obvious that some of your staff require a little more training on the complexity of autism spectrum disorders. Basic listening skills also wouldn't go amiss... This level of rudeness and ignorance is not exactly very professional, for a organisation that claims to support autistics. It should also go without saying that functioning labels are rather archaic, and tend to be unhelpful for many of those in my autistic community.
