We were very impressed by Abbotts (Colchester) when they facilitated the sale of our house at a difficult time in the housing market. We were very impressed by the courteous, friendly and easy-to-understand advice and service during the past ten months. Not having dealt with house purchase for 47 years and being very unfamiliar with such matters (!) Abbotts worked with us to make things clear, responded promptly and courteously to our queries in person, by telephone and by email, and generally made the whole process as smooth as possible in the circumstances. Although we cannot say we enjoyed the experience of selling a house (!), Abbotts made things easier for us... Many thanks!

Avoid at all costs. We came from London to have a viewing and nobody showed up. We tried to call the agent multiple times but nobody contacted with us.

We have been left devastated by this company and would not recommend in the slightest. Our first bad Communications happened in April 2022 when our Boiler broke without much warning. We contacted the Agency who said it would get sorted. We asked about if the Landladys insurance would cover a hotel due to having disabled children and was ignored. 3 WEEKS of constant chasing before we eventually got a boiler. Our Landlady started the eviction process back in September 2022 due to us refusing the 12.4% rent increase. Thats fine, she is well within her right to do so. However, when we questioned countrywide to mediate to her, they claimed they would and would respond to us yet never did. We were constantly left chasing them and being made to feel like a Nuisance. When the Eviction date came around, we made it clear to Rhys that we had been advised by the council to remain within the property. We also confirmed with Samantha that we had paid the final amount due in Rent costs. Less than a week later, we had an inspection agent trying to enter our home as she had not been notified that we were still residing there. Our children were terrified, 2 of whom are ASD and then had constant terror over someone entering the home they considered safe. I complained about this and was told it was taken serious however my communications with Rhys had not been being sent across to the other agents. To the point that Samantha actually had to call me to confirm things i had already spoken to Rhys about as she hadnt been told, yet again. We are now out of the property and they are withholding the deposit by claiming damages that were already there (and proven on our inventory report from when we moved in!) and are now saying we have over 3k arrears even though we confirmed we were fully paid, and no letters or emails were ever sent to ourselves or our guarantors to say any arrears were present. 2 weeks ago i contacted them again to ask about these arrears and was told it would be escalated and gotten back to me, yet i have just had to chase again as radio silence their end. It has caused us no end of stress, our mental health has collapsed due to this company and their poor communications.

Absolutely gutted with the negligence of this agency. We (myself and two other female house mates) have moved out of a property rented by them in July of 2022. It is now February 2023 and we still have not heard back from Ms Samantha Reynolds. It does not fall short to say that we are being swindled of our entire deposit. This agency claims to be in partnership with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme, which legally secures deposit fees, however we have been ignored for over 7 months. I would also like to mention that at the beginning of the process of renting the property, we received the most disgraceful service from an employee of theirs, who wanted us to pay the deposit before viewing the property, because there was an urge to get paperwork signed since there were various people interested. After further back and forth with this person, she finally agreed to show us the property and then we asked if we liked the property, whether we could process paperwork that same day, since we travelled over 1.5 hours to Colchester. She agreed and when we arrived, showed us the property and then proceeded to say that she is now going home and if we want to proceed we should go back to Colchester in the next following days. Clearly, there have been many red flags from this agency, and they have ignored legal protocal, which is why we are now in the process of involving our solicitors. If you want to have a peaceful and smooth tenancy, avoid this agency at all cost.
