Helpful accommodation for people in need however staff are a little too faced in the fact of being all nice in person then willing to stab you in the back given the opportunity

I was here from 2015-2017 and had amazing support whilst here. Some kids there did take this place for granted however the extraordinary support, guidance and expertise i was exposed to have made me independent, successful and made me a man of today. Many people did waste their time there doing drugs etc but those like me who accepted the guidance from the staff have led a good life. Being astrayed at the age of 15/16 and now living on my own and finish uni this June and going onto doing Masters degree in a year, working and supporting myself in all aspects was not something possible to me was it not for my key workers Alan, soon after Carol. The resources, commitment and professionalism of staff of Bernard Brett has transformed my life, amongst others. I am now as result working hard to be fully qualified and chartered building surveyor and project manager by 26. BBH has supported me so much. From fully-funded Duke of Edinburgh, to voluntary projects on London through Family Mosaic, led by Melissa to on-site activities and continuous support which was periodically reviewed. These guys have provided me a door in the dark times to help me combat my mental health, financial difficulties and gave me moral support to continue through my 4 years of college when i was at breaking point from all the financial and family issues alongside my curriculum, and provided solid foundation for my independence i have today. A particular gratitude must be paid to staff whose efforts have provided a milestone to my journey. Including Jodie, Trudy, Alan, Carol, Tina, Tanya, Sharon, Dan, Tony and all the relief staff there. I couldnt be more thankful to all the wonderful staff here, who believe going the extra mile in everything they do, is just a normal day. I would be a fool to say my success story was solely my doing.

The service offered here is really important in Colchester, the staff here are doing an amazing job and personally I think the house could do with a lot of extra support staff to help care for all the amazing young people, to be available to give more adult input and to support communial activities, like cooking, teaching how to manage money, crafts, beauty treatments, etc. These kids are worth it, Colchester needs it... Please support this service any way you can.
