Shrub End Sports Ground

Nice park with good spirys facilities and a small park for young children.

This is a large area of open parkland combined with 3- G football facilities belonging to Colchester United, where their junior teams train and they hold tournaments and community events. The football facilities are rented out to various other clubs too. Access to the big carpark is from Boudicca Way. The Col Utd building adjacent to the car park has meeting rooms with changing rooms and toilets around the back. The dropped star is due to the fact that many visiting teams are disappointed to find there are no refreshments available (and no nearby shops) plus no real shelter should it rain. Most football families are used to these sort of things though.

Sports ground with all weather pitch. Toilets open while matches are being played, car park can be full when multiple football matches are taking place. Good changing facilities..

My daughter's ladies football team played on the 4 G artificial surface versus our good friends from Arlesford. A tight game with the away side leading from a first half penalty until late into second half stoppage time when Pegasus Ladies scored twice to grab a 2-1 victory. A great run out for both sides where they were able to give squad players valuable pitch time. The excellent surface beat the frozen pitches around. Special mention to the referee who had an excellent game.
