I was very disappointed with Merrill's dealing with me over a hand held vacuum cleaner I took in for them to investigate its problem. I explained what the vacuum was doing (pulsating) and left it with them. A few days later they rang to say it needed a new battery at 74.00 !!!! Of course I collected it and did not purchase a battery from them at that price !! On their diagnosis I bought a new battery from Amazon at 25, albeit not a named brand. However, I then discovered that the filter on the top lifted out and youtube suggested to stop pulsing you merely rinse the filter under the tap and put back in. This I did and the pulsating stopped. I know that Merrills would have known what was wrong with the hand held vacuum cleaner, its their business to know and it is deplorable that they tried to sell me at 74 battery for something they could do for free. Likely is they would have kept the old battery where it was and swilled the filter under the tap. I am now left with a spare battery as the existing works fine. I felt that was a dirty trick to play on a longstanding customer who will not go back there again. Shame on you Merrills.
