This small chapel was once part of the entranceway into Coggeshall Abbey. It has a beautiful exterior, with Roman brick and tile used in its construction. Sadly not always open to the public. If you carry on down the footpath you come to where the old Cistercian abbey used to stand. Several of the old buildings still remain, including the mill, and now form part of a farmyard. Well worth a visit. Also, visit Grange Barn, a medieval barn built in the mid-1200's (making it one of Europe's oldest standing timber-framed buildings!) just around the corner. It used to belong to the abbey, and was used to store tithes

Beautiful church with a long history behind it. Only open once a month or so, so check with the local parish if you want to go inside.
