I had some work to do away from home, and checked the Marks Hall caf would be open until 5 so I could do it there. I arrived just before 4pm, ordered some tea and a (very stale) scone. With the occasional glare in my direction but no word to me, at 4.30, a member of staff pulled the door shutters down and bolted the door. I went over with my tray to check closing time and for another cup of tea, and was told I'd missed last orders. I asked if I could stay till 5 and a staff member pulled a face. "I guess from that you want to go home early?" I asked. "Yes" was her reply. So I left, at 4.30. It's a shame. This used to be a good caf, but the staff's attitude means I won't be back.

Generous portions, a nice friendly team and a good selection make this place a lovely location to visit. The outside seating is abundant in the form of picnic benches and you can sit indoors instead, should you choose. A great place to get a coffee or an ice cream before you walk around the estate.
