7,150 for a party wall award (for a simple kitchen and loft conversion). The award received was basic and has left unanswered questions and problems.

Awful company. Avoid if you can. We had a surveyor come out called Chris Smart who was rude and unprofessional. We had to use this company, was not out of choice.

We would not recommend this agency to anyone. Overall, we found the responses we received to be unprofessional, closed off and selfish. We were in the final stages of agreeing a completion date on a property and pushing our sale through so that Boyce Thornton and the landlord could plan accordingly for re-letting the property. This was 2 months in advance of the end of our tenancy and not a requirement of the agreement. As part of this process, we raised the question of whether there was an option of agreeing a short extension to ensure we werent left homeless when our baby was due. However, rather than having a conversation with us or showing any flexibility, we received a hard deadline date to either sign on for another year or to agree to leave at the end of our tenancy. Hilariously, our property manager genuinely suggested that if they couldnt find a replacement tenant, they would ask the landlord if we could stay on whilst they continued to search for a replacement. Not wanting the stress of arguing with them on tenants rights, we agreed to vacate. Communication whilst they arranged viewings was equally bad. We received an email saying theyd booked a viewing (without our approval) and failed to tell us when that viewing wasnt going to go ahead. Amusingly, after showing us no flexibility, the agent re-marketing the property asked us whether he could take some new photos inside the property (to use how we had decorated the flat with our furniture to sell the property). We were also asked whether we could move out before our tenancy ended to accommodate a tenant who was interested. Finally, at checkout, we were overcharged for one replacement light bulb (20) and a replacement key (15) which we agreed to pay purely to end our relationship with them. Overall, we are glad to be free of this estate agent and would not recommend them to anyone. Another example of an estate agent who looks at tenants as exchangeable and treats even good tenants badly without considering that tenants are their potential buyers/sellers in the future.
