I do need to thank Emma for providing the most throughly unpleasant shopping experience. I had to indulge her for 2 minutes while she ignored us to complete the critical job of straightening some cans on the till area. Finally I was permitted to pay (Emma kicked us off with a wordless supercilious look, took my goods, scanned them and wordlessly pointed to the card reader and ignored me while I paid on the machine and then she walked away without a word) - this was a thoroughly tactless, unfriendly, wordless and graceless transaction with someone who didn't care about being civil or even helpful. The good thing is that from here onwards everyone I come across today can be seen to be a nice person. Bravo - my question remains how do people like that even get hired?
