I can only speak from a drivers perspective as I am a C+E driver. As far as a driving job is concerned Maritime has to be one of the best companies to work for, of course you WILL be driving for numerous hours per day, but that is why I chose to be a C+E driver, because I love driving. Sometimes you get simple drop & swop and sometimes you can be sat waiting to unload for numerous hours. One thing you do gain whilst working for Maritime is extensive knowledge of the U.K ports and it is a great experience to have. I do not work for Maritime directly, but I am what you would call a "subbie" in that all my work is Maritime work. I have 2 Maritime planners organising my work schedule and they do so most professionally taking into account my hours and nighty parking , making sure of secure and safe locations. So in my opinion, if you are a C+E driver looking for a good driving job, you could try working for Maritime, in my opinion, its the best driving job I have had and I have been driving C+E vehicles for over 20 years. Their depots have showers and refreshment facilities - free coffee machines and when I park at the Felixstowe depot, I order a domino's that I share with the gate security, as a giant pizza is just to much for me. Oh, and the pay is good to. Do not apply for a Maritime job if you seek lay-by's. Hope this helps. P.s Yes, I am a tramper.
