You should tread very carefully when dealing with Marie Parris. She's slippery and likes to hide behind lies and wordy garble whenever you question her. Eventually she turns nasty.
When I first dealt with this lady in 2019 I was elated to be working with this black-owned organisation and was nothing short of impressed by what appeared to be a well-presented and professional individual. They very quickly found me a tenant and all was well. That was until the tenant abandoned the property leaving it in a state. The tenant had not only left the property but had also fled the country and the deposit was held with the Deposit Protection Scheme. I quickly wanted to find a replacement tenant as well as recover the deposit to fix my property (which would have been owed to me due to the mess as well as the fact that the ex-tenant was non responsive) but between June 2020 and January 2021, Marie Parris and her team had made NO effort to return the deposit OR find me another tenant. Each time I complained I was met with Marie's infamous wordy garble about contacting solicitors, affidavits, Covid-19, backlogs and other such nonsense....but no explanation as to what steps they had actually taken or when they would take any steps to recover my deposit. Just lies. She even tried to buy herself time by claiming viewers had come several times and complained about the condition of the property which was a lie. How do I know that was a lie? Because in 6 months they found me NO tenants and within 7 days Oaks had found me a new tenant when I finally gave up hope on Marie Parris in January 2021. 6 months my property was empty due to her incompetence and laziness. All the while, I still didn't have my deposit returned! In that space of time, Marie had BLOCKED me from calling her (weirdo) which just blew my mind. I was shocked and confused as to why I was blocked and started looking into George Ellis online. When I saw some of the vile Google reviews it dawned on me that this woman had a history of treating people like scum and so I started writing an internal complaint as I knew this would have to go to the Property Ombudsman. She then childishly retaliated and claimed that I was only making a complaint because "I hadn't got my way"- damn right! In 6 months I was waiting for funds still AND you'd also caused me 6 months worth of rental loss. Of course this had to be escalated for something to be done about this! TPO were to be lifesavers in the following 2 years it took to recover all my costs! At every deadline given to Marie by the Ombudsman to respond and/or return my money, she would let the date lapse and then some, causing the TPO to constantly have to chase them up. The Property Ombudsman was able to see through Marie's tardiness, her lies and her callousness in a very detailed report (that I'm happy to share with whomever) and by January 2023, 2 years after this debacle began, Marie Parris had no choice but to return the deposit (less costs) as well as awarding me on top for inconvenience. The Property Ombudsman has really served me well in dealing with this hideous company. I wouldn't wish them on anyone
