Beech House

We decided to treat ourselves to stay in Beech House and refresh with drinks and a light bite after a long day. Regretfully, having had many lovely meals here over the years, we were disappointed at the food and room offering. Staff as usual efficient and friendly. We stayed in Apple at Beech house. We knew this was the smallest room, but at 140 we did not expect it to be so small and dated (carpeted ensuite! Really! In this day and age?). Only hangers on the wall. This room is a single, should not be offered as a double. Breakfast food was good, although there was no brown bread or sausages. Disappointing not to be greeted in the breakfast room and having to go and find someone to take our coffees and food order (twice!). The same happened with following guests. The waitress was lovely but she should have been checking on the few guests in the room more often. Really hoped to be able to post 5 stars, but this was not the standard or value we expected or anticipated. Hopefully this is blip, and not a worrying sign of things to come!
