We reached the visitors centre after a lovely walk along the coast path. It's up a big flight of steps but there's a lift for those with wheelchairs and buggies etc. There are plentiful, clean toilets plus a small gallery, a shop and a cafe with a great view looking over the reedbeds towards the sea. The cake is very good and there are lots of types to choose from! The bird hides are reached by well maintained board walks (no steps as far as I could see). The hides are likewise well maintained and sizeable. They're well positioned by marsh pools and we saw lots of interesting waders - spoonbill, avocet, lapwings, redshank etc. The ever elusive bittern continues to elude me but I live in hope that one day I will spot one!
