The houses in general are nice, we have an Halton and I dont hate it but the finish is a joke, some of the decision making by the design team is shocking and the response to stuff from customer care is disgusting. They will do their best to push back on everything you say to them, they have tried to not abide by the nhbc and its taken me quoting extracts and arguing my case to get them to do anything.
Paid a professional snagger (snagsure) the first week we moved in. He gave us 160 or so snags, some of them terrible and many of them shockingly poor finishes.
As a few examples.
1. Paint on hinges.
2. A door that catches every time.
3. Scratched windows
4. A wall that is out of plumb
5. Bad bad brushstroke finishes on doors
6. Wrong type of paint used
7. Wrong tiling, misaligned tiling and shoddy finished tiling.
8. Radiators with chips and cracks on them.
9. A misaligned garden fence railing that looks ridiculous.
10. Bathroom door that doesnt lock.
11. Skirting board used where it shouldnt be.
12 a hob ring that doesnt ignite.
13. Missing plinths
14. Scratched cupboard doors
15. A space for a fridge freezer, dishwasher that arent the standard sizing so had to be adjusted. Weve got the fridge freezer in but the dishwasher is gonna be an issue now
16. Extractor fans that dont work and drip water
17. Leaks
18. Roads that dont get finished for weeks that cause damage to your cars, we moved in in January, poor people have been in over a year having to put up with that.
19. The living room is freezing, Ive had to ask for a reassessment on the energy efficiency, great news when gas and electric prices are through the roof.
20. A bannister with paint all over it, weird markings on it and being told that their is nothing they can do (theyve now dealt with that but the paint on the bannister is apparently okay)
21. A toilet with a radiator so close to it on the left hand side meaning a) you have to sit at an angle on the toilet and b) good luck with putting a toilet roll holder anywhere thats not free standing. C) burn your leg
22. Air bricks missing.
These are literally off the top of my head. Try keeping track of logging, chasing and arguing over a snag list when you work full time!
I cant fault the sales guy Ashley, Darren the site manager is a nice guy and does his best and Andy the snagging guy is really helpful but they are restricted when every house is vying for attention.
However, the aftercare team and in particular Jenna are a joke. Everything is a push back, a challenge and youll need to threaten or go through with resolution through the nhbc and/or legal action.
If youre thinking about buying on Westminster view then Id recommend popping round for a cuppa, Ill do a walk through, the things you dont notice till youre in and settling in and then realising the shoddy work. If youre wanting to buy somewhere and decorate it immediately yourself, or if you have the time and capacity to absolutely hound the snags whilst consistently threatening to go to the nhbc then good luck to you, they arent the worst houses at all but theyre definitely not what youd expect when paying over 300k for something brand new.
