The Foley Hotel

Rooms: Very comfortable and roomy, lots of little extras, and nice and quiet. Large bathroom too. Nearby activities: Close to Windsor Castle, RHS Wisley, Legoland and a host of other places. And just off the M25. Safety: The staff were friendly and attentive and I would feel safe staying here on my own. (I was travelling with my mum on this trip.) Walkability: The small town of Claygate within walking distance should you fancy a stroll and a coffee. It's a lovely peaceful and leafy area. Food & drinks: Super menu selection at reasonable prices, good portion sizes too. Nice bar area and a good selection of beverages. Smashing breakfast too.

We had dinner here last night. The service was shocking. We ended up ordering drinks for the entire meal at the bar as the only time a waitress came near the table was to take our order. We had some people on the table finished eating while others were still waiting for food. No one cleared the plates at the end of the meal and we moved from the restaurant to the bar for a last drink/coffees away from the mess. When paying the bill a discretionary service charge was added which we only paid part of (as the lady behind the bar was great with our drinks orders). The person taking the payment questioned our shortfall by telling us we'd under paid. I would not be eating here again. (And all that on top of half the meals on the menu being unavailable, and no gluten free substitutes for any of the bread/burger buns etc).
