The Lawns Restaurant at Thornton Hall

Sunday lunch at The Lawns is just a fabulous experience. From the moment you are warmly greeted by staff at the door you feel you are whisked away to a different world where you are treated like, and definitely dine like, royalty. Even though they were busy with two private parties the beautifully decorated restaurant itself was quiet and felt exclusive, the service was attentive but not intrusive, staff have the ability to make diners feel like honoured guests. They are so genuinely friendly and make you feel like they want to make your dining experience very special. They certainly accomplish that. The meal itself was delicious, beautifully presented and gorgeous flavours. Its very hard to choose as each item on the menu is so tempting..I suppose it just means we will have to come more often so we can work our way through it . If you want a very special Sunday lunch treat you wont do any better than this. I left feeling very chilled, like Id had a mini break in a country house hotel and was very sad to leave. I will look forward to the next time.

Today was one of those disappointing days when the cook was not on the ball. Most of the time Crackle Barrel serves awesome food. However today the corn on the cob tasted old, mac & cheese had burnt pieces mixed in with it. The meatloaf tasted very bland and dry. Corn bread was so so. We had our order as take out
