Louise May Photography

Louise is one of the best photographers I know and she's the loveliest person too. So friendly and funny and caring. Super professional photos too!

When we were hunting for a wedding photographer, we were pretty much instantly and instinctively keen on working with Louise after seeing her portfolio which seemed to somehow show the capturing of key emotions at specific moments. We felt like her photos had life in them. We had spoken with ~ 10 photographers in total to find 'our one'. We learned of Louise's strong 'skin in the game' during our initial call, where she quite literally put everything into following her passion for photography. She also shared how she was happy to recommend other photographers to us depending on what it is we were after. It was these three factors that made us want to have her as our wedding photographer. What followed was delight after delight after delight. Whether it be the connection session which made us feel connected (yep - the name really is fitting) or the chats before, during, and after the session and all the way through to the wedding day (and beyond)... Louise has a knack for capturing the genuine 'feel' of any given moment. She went well above and beyond what was expected, and her warm, friendly, and approachable nature meant that - as she had planned - we felt at total ease on the actual wedding day. Her approach to photography is totally non-invasive meaning we could just focus on enjoying the celebration, knowing full well that we were in good hands in terms of the capturing of memories. Indeed, when we looked at many of the photos Louise took of the wedding day, we were completely shocked because we simply did not believe she was there taking those photos! We had no idea that Louise was around at some of those moments. She had/has this magical ability to just disappear or not be seen, and then capture very real feelings, emotions, and moments just seamlessly. Each time we look at the photos she's taken, we're instantly reminded of precisely what happened on our wedding day, and what sort of feelings we had. The photos tell a very clear story of precisely what happened on the day. We're incredibly grateful for a lifetime of memories captured so beautifully, and genuinely cannot recommend Louise enough. She's a gem of a human being, is an absolute pleasure to work with, and her creations and capturing of moments is just incredible. Thanks ever so much for everything, Louise - we really appreciate it.

I have had the greatest of pleasure seeing Louise May at work at our countryside and woodland wedding venue - Higher Holcombe. Her work is both sensitive and creative with some fabulous angles! I have no hesitation in recommending her to other couples who book our venue.

I hardly know where to begin with how amazing it was to have Louise as part of our day. We were so lucky to be able to have such a talented photographer to capture all the special moments. Her pictures are so breath-taking & atmospheric- she just has a way of adding a layer of magic to every shot. It's not just the pictures though, she is so experienced- it was like having a calm and supportive friend by our sides from the first conversation with her before the wedding and through the entire day. She not only acted as a reassuring presence in the flurry of all the wedding chaos, but helped us create calm and special moments by taking us aside to capture some special, 'just married' pictures in a quiet place. She never 'clock watched', she was never obtrusive or directive, she let us enjoy all the precious time with our friends and family while still managing to always be in the right place at the right time. Aside from being an absolute pleasure to have involved in our day, Louise and her assistant Anna are excellent at staying in touch, responding to emails and managing the entire process from booking to final edits. She has a lovely gallery portal which is easy to use, and links in with a professional print service which offers a range of quality printing options including memory boxes and wall canvas prints. You only get once chance to capture certain memories and I don't think after having seen the results of her work I would ever trust anyone else with important pictures, if I ever wanted special pictures in future I wouldn't even think of looking anywhere else. I also want to mention that she is body positive, lgbt friendly, disability friendly- she never tried to avoid shots of things like my mums wheelchair or body shots or to edit me 'thinner'. She made me feel so at ease. As a larger bride there is always a bit of anxiety about feeling awkward or maybe not liking how I look in the pictures but she managed to capture just all the joy, love and smiles so its impossible not to be completely in love with the pictures.

I can't even begin to put into words how incredible Louise May is. She went above and beyond what we expected from a wedding photographer. The level of attention to detail was exceptional. She went out of her way to collect loads of information about our vision for the day, what 'feel' of pictures we wanted and our story- so she could ensure she captured exactly what we wanted. She also included in the package a 'Pre-wedding Shoot' at a location of our choosing so that we became relaxed with her taking pictures of us. We could also see the way that she worked and we talked through the whole wedding day. These pictures are so beautiful - we are planning on framing many of them because it was such a special day, just for us and this was such a special part of the process leading up to our wedding. Louise not only was our photographer, she guided us on her experience of where weddings have run really smoothly in the past, what we might want to consider and suggestions for things we hadn't even thought about. Due to this, Louise was definitely one of the reasons that the day went perfectly- she was definitely part of the smooth running of the day! The relationship she built up with us throughout the whole process was exceptional - she made the whole experience personal and we felt really special. She is so so so talented - the pictures from our wedding beautifully capture the fun, love and relaxed vibe of our day - exactly what we had asked for. She did such an amazing job. I hope that anyone reading this review decides to choose Louise as their wedding photographer. I can't recommend her enough.
