What a gem of a campsite! Weve come out of season and have barely seen another camper. We were allocated a hardstanding spot, equal distance to two sets of toilet blocks. Both in a good clean condition. The great thing about this campsite is that youre not packed on top of each other. Yes, some of the hardstanding spots are adjacent to the track, but we havent seen a single vehicle drive up it. If youre worried, ask for one of the camp spots that has space for an awning (181 is spacious). Shop was extremely well stocked; hiking equipment, hygiene products, maps, eggs, cheese, bread, sauces etc. You can get your gas cylinder exchanged too (Calor and Campingaz). Theres a jetty to launch your canoe from, that feeds directly into Lake Windermere. Theres a drying room (5ft squared) in each toilet block that you can leave your stuff in (towels and coats will dry in an hour or two). Theres also a laundry which takes cash. Site is dog-friendly and you can walk straight to Wray Castle. Would recommend Joeys Cafe at the Ferry / Viewing Station. Takes around 1h45m to get there.

I tried to email the campsite for a month regarding a potentail booking. I was told it was out of season and left to chase up a reply. I was then informed that my booking would not be upheld as it was a group booking but l am unsure as to why this this response needed a month to formulate. Email responses were also very curt to my enquiries.

First time here in off season so relatively quite, we had a motorhome so used a pitch with electric hook up. The site covers a large area with a mixture of tent pitches, and small pods/huts. It sits on the edge of the lake with easy access to the lake. We found the showers and toilets warm and with plenty of water. 10 minutes walk to Low Wray Castle which has a cafe.
