Went in for coffee and cake with friends but were treated to much more. On a cold and snowy day in Cirencester the first thing on our minds was warming our hands around a steaming cup of coffee - apart from my friend who had left her porridge in the microwave and became quickly fixated on the plump, shiny butter buns (a specialty) - she ordered one to share - it was slightly warmed and was out of this world. We could easily have had one each - note to self for next time (there will definitely be one!)
As we were recovering from this explosion of taste and sensation (it really did feel like that - try one - youll see!) we were treated to a some samples of the most delicious chocolate I have ever tried all served on a little pink saucer with an explanation about each one, and where in the world it was from given to us by the Butter Bun Baker - Aggys partner. Im a bit of a die hard 100% Montezuma girl, but even the milk chocolate which I normally dont enjoy was incredible, really special. We sampled dark, milk, white, ruby chocolate - all with varying percentages of cocoa. My friend bought a gift box of beautiful truffles - including a pear, quince and hemp one, a hot cross bun one, and an Old Fashioned one!! Everything is sourced ethically and even the little bags the chocolate and truffles are packed and labelled in are eco friendly and can be put into food composting.
There wasnt a chance we could leave without buying some to take home, and all agreed this was in part because of the generosity of Mr Aggy in making our visit so special, we felt very spoiled.
So, if youre looking for some magic with your coffee, cake or chocolate - this is where you need to go - oh, and if you get confused about which door to go through its the one on the left! Follow the wonderful aromas!!
