Update: It is evident that the owners prefer to brand guests as idiots if they have a negative opinion of their accommodation rather than improve their service. Summary: Poor communication, additional charges and fines. Would not recommend staying here. We stayed in the hay loft for 3 nights in October. It is unfortunate that in this case we are leaving a negative review. The main reason is that the communication was really bad. Our booking was originally in April 2020, but with lockdown we tried to move this to October. It was really difficult getting hold of the owners to try and move our booking. Secondly, we were there with our dog. The stay itself was nice, but you can imagine our shock when we were notified that because there was dog hair in the shower catchment and we were to pay a fine of 50. Although the printed instructions in the cottage requests we wash our dog using the outside tap, the tap was broken and the owners were nowhere to be found. Now, we understand with dogs there is additional cleaning required and so when we were asked to pay a dog fee of 30 we thought nothing of it. There was no information stating that dogs are not allowed on furniture on the booking confirmation. Also when you try to read the terms and conditions of the booking it takes you to an error page. We informed the owners of this and said we would have taken an active effort if we were made aware of the rules. In this case we made a payment to them but it really left a sour taste to the whole trip. I really would not recommend this supposedly dog friendly place to anyone looking to bring their furry friends. I was initially hesitant to post this review as I understand things are difficult for the tourism industry at the moment. But considering the owners did not even bother to reply to our email confirming they received our extra payment I felt I had to share my experience.

My brief was a hen slumber weekend. It was to be easy, relaxing and enjoyable. Dee and Rosie did everything in their power to make this happen and we cant thank them enough. The cottages are beautiful, well designed and so warm and welcoming. The gardens are beautiful and we enjoyed being able to play lawn games and say hello to the ponies. Dee and Rosie did us afternoon tea and a flower crown course for all the girls. Their tutoring was fantastic and everyone was amazing. Cant recommend them enough and already the bride has asked us to find a reason to return.

From the minute you arrive and see the external finish of the cottages,to the welcome from Dee and the dogs, you know that the experience will be exceptional. You then enter the cottage and again see the attention to detail and time that must have been spent in ensuring that everything was spot on. Charles is testament to great British workmanship when you look at the kitchens and wooden flooring in the bedrooms - superb. Relax in the beautifully appointed furniture and fittings, especially the beds - so comfortable. Lovely location, great owners, plenty to do and visit. Loved our stay. Thank you.
